Ellwood City Councilman Caleb Cragler claimed that the approved $20,000 to send Councilwoman Judith Dici and Mayor Anthony Court to attend the Pennsylvania State Association of Boroughs (PSBA) conferences was irresponsible.
Over the last four years, the cost of sending Court and Dici to eight PSBA conferences amounted to $10,242 according to New Castle News. According to Borough bookkeeper Diane Daubenspeck, only one of the attending parties should have attended the conferences.
2009 and 2010 saw the costs inflating due to the number of council members attending these conferences.
Dici’s attendance was given a vote of approval by Councilwoman Lisa Guerrera, where the cost from 2016 to 2019 was estimated to be $10,502.
Court’s expenses were unanimously approved, while the council voted to deny Dici’s expenses by 4 to 3 votes.
Vice-Chairman James Barry, Councilwoman Michele Lamenza, Cragle and Celli voted against, while Councilman Rob Brough, Dici and Guerrera voted yes.
“We’re saying no — it looks odd,” Brough said.
