The University of Delaware men’s basketball program announced on April 28 that transfer Eugene Alvin will join the Fightin’ Blue Hens for the 2026-27 season. Head coach Martin Ingelsby said Alvin comes to Delaware after playing last season at Morgan State.

Ingelsby said, “We are thrilled to welcome Eugene to our Blue Hen basketball family. He is a versatile player that can work in the post, rebound at a high level, and knock down shots from the perimeter. Welcome to Delaware, Eugene!”

Alvin is a 6-foot-7 forward who appeared in 29 games with 14 starts at Morgan State, averaging 19.4 minutes, 7.3 points, and 3.6 rebounds per game during his career there. In the most recent season, he shot 45.1 percent from the field and made 38.4 percent of his three-point attempts. He totaled 211 points, recorded 19 steals and blocked 14 shots over the year, scoring in double figures in nineteen games.

Before transferring to Morgan State, Alvin played two years of junior college basketball—first at Bishop State Community College and then Florida SouthWestern State College. As a freshman at Bishop State during the 2023-24 season, he averaged just over seven minutes and scored an average of three-and-a-half points per game across twenty-eight appearances with fifteen starts. At Florida SouthWestern State College he started twenty-eight out of twenty-nine games played and averaged nearly nine points per game while playing more than twenty-five minutes each contest.

Alvin also played four years at Gateway High School in Fort Myers where he averaged seventeen points and eight rebounds as a senior while shooting fifty-two percent from the field.
