City of Newark issued the following announcement on Dec. 18.
The City of Newark is excited to announce it has partnered with the largest national recycling education network, Recycle Coach, making its recycling program readily available to residents on desktop and mobile applications.
Equipped with the powerful "What Goes Where?" search engine on the City of Newark website, this partnership makes collection requirements easily accessible to residents. Residents can also download the Recycle Coach mobile app to get the same search engine and recycling collection requirements on their smartphones.
"The City is excited to launch our Recycle Coach web app containing all the information our residents need to know, tailored to Newark, about our residential refuse and recycling services," said Tim Filasky, Director of Public Works and Water Resources.
Along with the "What Goes Where?" search engine, the Recycle Coach platform also offers collection calendars and personalized reminders; the report-a-problem feature; educational messages attached to event reminders; and many more.
The Recycle Coach app provides educational information to Newarkers as well. Articles on a wide variety of refuse and recycling topics are available on the Recycle Coach website and blog, Recyclepedia.
This initiative by the City of Newark aims to increase the community's recycling knowledge and elevate recycling in the local environmental conversation by making the recycling program simple, engaging, and easy to navigate.
The partnership with Recycle Coach will last three years and is made possible through a grant from The Recycling Public Advisory Council and administered by the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control.
The Recycle Coach™ app is free to download and it is available from the iTunes Store and Google Play.
