CITY OF WILMINGTON: DelDOT To Close Lanes And Ramps On I-95 Northbound And Southbound For Weekend Repairs Beginning Saturday, Dec. 14

Laneclose

City of Wilmington issued the following announcement on Dec. 13.

Brandywine River Bridge will be reduced to one lane in each direction; ramps at North Adams Street and Delaware Avenue will be closed until Monday morning

Motorists are advised by the Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) that Interstate-95 northbound and southbound will require double lane closures over the Brandywine River Bridge this weekend. There will be a single lane for traffic in each direction as a result, beginning 6:00 p.m. Saturday, December 14, 2019 until 5:00 a.m. Monday, December 16, 2019, weather permitting.   During this time, the I-95 northbound on-ramp from North Adams Street will be closed, as will the I-95 southbound Exit 7B at Delaware Avenue.

According to DelDOT, these closures are necessary to allow for the repair of deterioration of the road surface in the center lane both northbound and southbound. The entire concrete surface of the bridge deck will be replaced during the upcoming I-95 Corridor Rehabilitation Project beginning in March 2021.

Detour Routes:

I-95 Northbound On-Ramp at North Adams Street

Continue West on Route 52/Pennsylvania Avenue, turn right onto North Van Buren Street, then right onto Gilpin Avenue, right onto North Jackson Street, left onto 9th Street, then left onto North Adams Street and take the ramp for I-95 northbound Chester/Philadelphia.

I-95 Southbound Off-Ramp at Exit 7B/Delaware Avenue

Continue on I-95 southbound to Exit 7A, then turn left onto North Adams Street.

Detour routes will be posted for motorists.
