In a post made at 16:02 UTC, Blunt Rochester stated: “Translation: House Republicans are RULING OUT reopening the government. The American people can’t afford your inaction, Mr. Speaker.”
Later that day at 19:18 UTC, she continued her criticism by noting Republican control over both chambers of Congress and the presidency: “Republicans control the House, the Senate, and the White House. They could end this shutdown if they wanted to. Instead, they keep trying to pass a bill that pushes us closer to a health care catastrophe.”
Blunt Rochester posted again at 20:23 UTC with further allegations regarding Republican motives for keeping the government closed: “Republicans shut down the government, left town, and refuse to come back.
