Senator Lisa Blunt Rochester, who has represented Delaware’s at-large district in the U.S. Congress since 2017, recently used her social media platform to comment on current political developments, including government shutdowns and the conduct of Republican leaders.
On October 8, 2025, Senator Blunt Rochester posted, “Now that Trump and his allies are back in power, they’re showing us what weaponization of the federal government looks like. Using the government to harass and intimidate political rivals is absolutely unacceptable.”
Later that day, she addressed ongoing congressional proceedings, stating, “Let Me Be Blunt: this isn’t business as usual. Republicans shut down the government and are refusing to negotiate. They’re even holding committee hearings on everything BUT their shutdown. This week, I used my time in those hearings to remind them what’s really at stake.”
On October 9, 2025, Senator Blunt Rochester highlighted concerns from constituents, writing, “Listen to what this Republican mother had to say to Speaker Johnson this morning. If he’s not willing to listen to us, I hope he’ll listen to the American people. Families are hurting, and Republicans have the power to put a stop to it. We’re at the table. We’re waiting.”
Blunt Rochester has been a member of Congress since 2017, succeeding John Carney as Delaware’s representative. She was born in Philadelphia in 1962 and currently resides in Wilmington. Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University, earned in 1985.
