Senator Lisa Blunt Rochester, who has represented Delaware’s at-large district in the U.S. Congress since 2017, used her social media platform this week to criticize current federal leadership and policies on a range of issues.

On April 14, 2026, Senator Blunt Rochester wrote: “Republicans control the Senate, the House, and the White House but they still can’t get anything passed. Now they’re telling you the costs you’re paying as a result of Trump’s war in Iran are no big deal. Unbelievable.”

The following day, she addressed concerns specific to her home state: “Delaware is the lowest-lying state in the nation. Our farmers, families, and business owners deserve better than arrogant, ultra-rich secretaries telling them their home should be underwater. We have options—why is this administration ignoring them?” This statement highlights ongoing debates about climate change policy and government responsiveness.

Later on April 15, Blunt Rochester commented on energy policy: “For as much as this president likes to rail against electric cars, he’s made it too expensive to drive anything else.”

Blunt Rochester was born in Philadelphia in 1962 and currently resides in Wilmington. She graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University with a BA in 1985. The senator succeeded John Carney as Delaware’s representative beginning in 2017.

Her recent statements come amid continued national discussions over foreign policy decisions involving Iran, climate resilience for low-lying states like Delaware—which faces heightened risks from sea level rise—and shifting transportation costs tied to energy policy.
