Senator Lisa Blunt Rochester, who has represented Delaware’s at-large district in the U.S. Congress since 2017, posted a series of tweets on November 3 and 4, 2025, highlighting her concerns about health care policy and food assistance administration.
On November 3, Senator Blunt Rochester criticized Republican actions regarding health insurance coverage. She wrote, “After kicking millions of Americans off their insurance, Republicans are refusing to take action to prevent outrageous price hikes like this for millions more. They’re making our communities sicker and poorer, and they don’t even seem to care.” In a later tweet the same day, she discussed meeting with local advocates as open enrollment began: “With open enrollment underway and premiums set to skyrocket, I met with health care advocates in Wilmington to discuss the impacts they’re seeing in our state. We must act to end this health care crisis, reform our insurance system, and lower costs. Delawareans can’t wait.”
The following day, Senator Blunt Rochester addressed issues related to SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) payments by the administration. She stated: “The administration is only sending partial SNAP payments to families, causing headaches for states and stress for recipients. Hunger is not a game. They need to obey the court and send full payments out immediately.”
Blunt Rochester was born in Philadelphia in 1962 and currently resides in Wilmington. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1985. Before joining Congress in 2017 after replacing John Carney, she had been involved in various public service roles.
Her recent statements come amid broader national debates over rising health insurance premiums during open enrollment periods and federal management of nutrition assistance programs.
