Senator Lisa Blunt Rochester, who has represented Delaware’s at-large district in the U.S. Congress since 2017, recently addressed a range of national issues on her social media account, including veterans’ health care, the ongoing government shutdown, and the return of hostages following the October 7th attacks.
On October 11, 2025, Blunt Rochester criticized Republican lawmakers, stating, “While Republicans repeat their lies about immigrants, they’re trying to distract you from the fact they’re taking health care away from more than 260,000 veterans. Democrats are fighting to keep care affordable for those who served and countless others.”
In a post dated October 13, 2025, she commented on recent developments in the aftermath of the October 7th attacks: “After just over two years to the day since the horrific attacks on October 7th, hostages are now being returned and families are finally being reunited with their loved ones. This is a meaningful step forward, and we must build on this progress and continue on the path toward”
Blunt Rochester also addressed the government shutdown in a tweet on October 14, 2025: “It’s been two weeks since Republicans shut down the government. Reminder: they could come to the table and negotiate to reopen things today and restore people’s health care coverage. They’re actively choosing not to.”
Blunt Rochester, born in Philadelphia in 1962 and currently residing in Wilmington, has been an active member of Congress since succeeding John Carney in 2017. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University, earned in 1985.
