Senator Lisa Blunt Rochester, currently serving in the U.S. Congress as Delaware’s at-large representative since 2017, has recently addressed key political and social issues through a series of posts on her social media account.
On August 14, 2025, Senator Blunt Rochester marked an important anniversary for Social Security, stating, “90 years ago today, Social Security made it possible for millions to retire with dignity. Democrats are committed to protecting this program and ensuring seniors, those with disabilities, and so many more can access their hard-earned benefits after they’ve left the workforce.”
A day later, on August 15, 2025, she expressed condolences following the passing of Mike Castle, a prominent figure in Delaware politics. In her words: “I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of a true Delaware political giant, Mike Castle. Governor Castle was a fixture in Delaware politics for nearly half a century. As one of his hundreds of thousands of constituents, I always admired how gracefully he led. From his focus”.
Later that same day, Blunt Rochester commented on President Trump’s nominee for Bureau of Labor Statistics commissioner: “President Trump’s pick for BLS commissioner is an extremist with a history of peddling lies and manipulating data. His appointment would be devastating for our economy. I’m calling on Mr. Antoni to testify to the HELP Committee to explain his positions to the American people.”
Lisa Blunt Rochester has represented Delaware’s at-large district since replacing John Carney in 2017 and resides in Wilmington after being born in Philadelphia in 1962. She graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University with a Bachelor’s degree in 1985.
