Senator Lisa Blunt Rochester, currently representing Delaware’s at-large district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on her social media account addressing national politics and extending holiday greetings to her constituents.
On September 22, 2025, Blunt Rochester criticized the president’s recent remarks and actions. She wrote, “It’s alarming that in the same weekend the president says he ‘hates’ his political opponents, we also learned he’s trying to use the DOJ to baselessly prosecute them. This is an outrageous abuse of power- we need a president who serves us all, not just his supporters.”
The following day, she marked Rosh Hashanah with a message for those celebrating in Delaware: “Shana Tova to everyone in Delaware celebrating Rosh Hashanah! Wishing you a new year full of good health, happiness, and plenty of time spent with loved ones.” (September 23, 2025).
Later on September 23, Blunt Rochester commented on press freedoms under the Trump administration. She stated, “From bullying networks to threatening reporters who report anything beyond talking points, the Trump administration is undermining the First Amendment. We must stand up for journalists and their vital role in protecting against corruption and abuse.”
Lisa Blunt Rochester has served as Delaware’s at-large representative since 2017 after succeeding John Carney. Born in Philadelphia in 1962 and now residing in Wilmington, she graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1985.
