Eric Morrison, a representative of the Delaware House, has sparked controversy with remarks on social media. Morrison said that fascism in America would manifest under the guise of patriotism and religion, a comment critics have interpreted as an attack on both faith and patriotism.
“When fascism comes to America it will be wrapped in a flag and carrying a cross,” said Morrison, according to Facebook.
According to a North New Castle News article, Morrison compared a proposed Pentagon recruitment campaign associated with Charlie Kirk to “full-on Nazi youth recruitment,” as reported in a Facebook post cited by the outlet. The article notes that this comment provoked backlash due to its use of Nazi imagery in critiquing military recruitment efforts. This incident aligns with what some see as a pattern of provocative rhetoric from Morrison in public discussions.
MSN reports that Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman has issued warnings against the use of extremist language, particularly criticizing Democrats who liken their opponents to Hitler or fascists amid growing political tensions. Fetterman argues that such rhetoric exacerbates divisions and heightens the risk of political violence. His comments underscore internal concerns within the party about preserving civility in political discourse.
Delaware Public Media reported that Morrison introduced bipartisan legislation known as House Bill 291, which would require political donors to disclose both their job title and employer in campaign finance disclosures. The report states that this measure aims to prevent “pass-through contributions” or the use of straw donors to obscure true funding sources. The bill also includes provisions for reviewing submitted campaign finance reports and establishes penalties for violations under the proposed law.
Morrison has served as the state representative for Delaware’s 27th District since 2020. His legislative responsibilities include roles on committees such as Corrections, Education, and Labor, among others, according to information available on the assembly website. Morrison’s career path from public service and community activism to policy initiatives positions him as an influential figure within Delaware’s political arena, according to the Delaware General Assembly’s official page.
