Senator Lisa Blunt Rochester, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Delaware’s at-large district, has been vocal on social media about her concerns regarding public health and recent legislative actions. Since replacing John Carney in 2017, she has been an active voice on various issues.
On July 7, 2025, Senator Rochester expressed her concern over vaccine skepticism. She stated, “This is a consequence of inexperienced and reckless leadership throughout this administration: empowering vaccine skepticism has brought measles back from obscurity.” She urged for a collective effort to rebuild trust in scientific advancements that once eradicated diseases like measles.
The following day, July 8, 2025, Senator Rochester criticized the Trump administration’s policies regarding healthcare access. She tweeted that “Whether through massive cuts to Medicaid or discriminatory travel bans, the Trump administration is making it harder and more expensive for you to get the health care you need.”
Later that day, she shared feedback from her constituents concerning a controversial bill passed by Republicans in Congress. Rochester noted that “Last week, I emailed Delawareans asking what they thought about the big, ugly bill Republicans just rushed through Congress. More than 11,000 people said they strongly disapprove of it.” Her statement emphasized the widespread disapproval among Delaware residents.
Lisa Blunt Rochester was born in Philadelphia in 1962 and currently resides in Wilmington. She graduated with a BA from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1985.
