Senator Lisa Blunt Rochester, representing Delaware’s at-large district in the U.S. Congress since 2017, has recently expressed her views and actions through a series of tweets. These tweets address her role in nominating students to service academies, her opposition to a presidential travel ban, and her concerns about changes to the vaccine approval process.
On June 7, 2025, Senator Blunt Rochester shared her honor in nominating Delaware students to prestigious national service academies. She mentioned her gratitude for participating in the annual delegation Service Academy Night alongside Senator Chris Coons and Representative Sarah McBride. “It’s my honor to nominate Delaware students to our nation’s prestigious service academies every year.”
On June 9, 2025, she criticized the President’s attempt to enforce a travel ban that she deems discriminatory. Senator Blunt Rochester emphasized that such bans do not contribute to the safety of American families but instead incite fear and disruption. She called for an immediate reversal of this order. “The last time the President tried to enforce his discriminatory travel ban, I was against it— today is no different.”
Later on June 9, 2025, she addressed concerns over Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s actions regarding the vaccine approval process. Senator Blunt Rochester has been urging Kennedy to restore this process after delays and obstructions but noted that he dismissed all members without cause. She described this decision as dangerous and thoughtless with significant implications for community health. “For months, I’ve been pressing RFK Jr to restore our vaccine approval process after he delayed and obstructed this key body.”
Lisa Blunt Rochester was born in Philadelphia in 1962 and currently resides in Wilmington. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
