Senator Lisa Blunt Rochester, a current member of the U.S. Congress representing Delaware’s at-large district, has recently shared her thoughts on several pressing issues via social media. Since 2017, she has served in this role after replacing John Carney. Born in Philadelphia and residing in Wilmington, Rochester graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University with a BA in 1985.
On May 21, 2025, Rochester expressed her sorrow over the passing of Congressman Gerry Connolly. She described him as “a dedicated public servant and a fierce advocate for both his state and communities across the country.” Her condolences extended to Connolly’s family and friends as they mourn his loss (“I’m deeply saddened to learn of Congressman Gerry Connolly’s passing.”).
Later that day, Rochester voiced her disapproval of an unspecified deal that she believes disadvantages working people. She criticized it for causing losses beyond income, including impacts on Medicaid, Social Security, clean water access, internet availability, and small business support. She concluded by stating her refusal to support such an arrangement (“There it is.”).
In another post on the same day, Rochester questioned the achievements claimed by Secretary Zeldin’s agency within its first 100 days. Despite Zeldin’s assertion of having more than 1,500 “wins,” Rochester suggested these were not genuine accomplishments due to cuts made to safety and health programs (“According to Sec. Zeldin…”).
Lisa Blunt Rochester continues to serve as a prominent voice in Congress for Delaware’s constituents.
