Senator Lisa Blunt Rochester, a U.S. Congress member representing Delaware’s at-large district since 2017, recently used her social media platform to criticize the current administration and Republican lawmakers over consumer protections and health care policies.
On October 16, 2025, Senator Blunt Rochester wrote: “This administration wants to shut down the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. That’s the agency tasked with protecting consumers, like you, from fraud, price gouging, and corporate abuse. If you were wondering whose side they were on, here’s your answer.”
The following day, she addressed health care costs in another post dated October 17, 2025: “But Republicans are saying health care for millions of Americans is too expensive. Make it make sense.”
Later that same day, Senator Blunt Rochester added: “Actually, Democrats passed laws to bring your drug costs down— Republicans rolled them back. Now, we’re trying to keep your health insurance costs from skyrocketing— they’re standing in our way.”
Lisa Blunt Rochester was born in Philadelphia in 1962 and currently resides in Wilmington. She succeeded John Carney as Delaware’s at-large representative and graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University with a BA in 1985.
The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), which Senator Blunt Rochester referenced in her posts, was established after the financial crisis to oversee consumer protection in the financial sector. The agency has been at the center of partisan debates regarding its role and authority.
