Senator Lisa Blunt Rochester, a U.S. Congress member representing Delaware’s at-large district since 2017, has recently expressed her views on several policy issues through social media. Her posts address concerns about Social Security payments, civil rights history, and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
On June 4, 2025, Senator Blunt Rochester commented on the proposed garnishment of Social Security payments: “Garnishing Social Security payments won’t speed up repayment, but it would be a catastrophe for countless seniors across the country.” She expressed relief that the policy was not implemented but urged continued vigilance and advocacy.
The following day, June 5, she addressed efforts to undermine civil rights history: “These efforts to erase our histories and relegate civil rights history-makers are despicable.” The senator asserted her commitment to preserving historical integrity.
Later on June 5, Blunt Rochester highlighted the importance of SNAP in providing opportunities for families: “SNAP is about giving families the tools they need to succeed – I know, because one of those families was mine.” She vowed to oppose any cuts to such programs by Republicans.
Lisa Blunt Rochester was born in Philadelphia in 1962 and resides in Wilmington. She holds a BA from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
