Senator Lisa Blunt Rochester, who has represented Delaware’s at-large district in the U.S. Congress since 2017, shared several updates on social media on June 4, 2025. Her posts highlighted her involvement in nominating students to service academies, addressed misconceptions about Medicaid recipients, and discussed reproductive rights.
On June 4, Senator Rochester announced her participation alongside colleagues Chris Coons and Sarah McBride in nominating Delaware students to national service academies. She invited the public to join them in Dover for an informational event about the application process. “Every year, @ChrisCoons, @Rep_McBride, & I have the honor of nominating outstanding Delaware students to our nation’s service academies.”
In another post from that day, Senator Rochester challenged stereotypes surrounding Medicaid recipients by sharing a personal story from one of her constituents named Emmanuel. She emphasized that Medicaid provides essential support for individuals seeking employment. “This assumption that people on Medicaid don’t want to work is just wrong.”
Later on June 4, Senator Rochester expressed her commitment to safeguarding reproductive rights during a meeting with Alexis McGill from Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA). They discussed strategies to counteract what she described as Republican efforts to restrict abortion access through budgetary measures. “I was glad to welcome @alexismcgill from @PPFA to my office.”
Lisa Blunt Rochester was born in Philadelphia in 1962 and resides in Wilmington. She graduated with a BA from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1985.
