Senator Lisa Blunt Rochester, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Delaware’s at-large district, shared her thoughts on several matters through social media. These posts, made on May 15 and 16, 2025, reflect her stance on constitutional rights, her appreciation for law enforcement, and her celebration of educational milestones.
On May 15, Senator Rochester emphasized the clarity of the Constitution regarding citizenship: “No matter how they try to warp the truth, the Constitution is clear: Kids born in America are American citizens – full stop.”
Later that day, she expressed gratitude towards law enforcement after meeting a Capitol Police officer: “Stopped on my way to the Senate floor this morning to meet Capitol Police Officer Rudy Smith from Dover. I’m grateful for his service here at the Capitol, and to all the members of law enforcement who keep our communities safe. Thank you for the badge, Officer Smith!”
The following day, she commemorated an important anniversary for Delaware State University: “134 years ago today, @DelStateUniv was founded—a crown jewel of Delaware and one of the best HBCUs in the country. Today we reflect on the generations of students whose path to success ran through DSU and celebrate the future of this great institution.”
Lisa Blunt Rochester has been serving in Congress since replacing John Carney in 2017. Born in Philadelphia in 1962 and currently residing in Wilmington, she graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University with a BA in 1985.
