The University of Delaware women’s tennis team achieved its 20th straight home victory with a 4-0 win over NJIT on the DFH Outdoor Courts, according to an April 10 announcement.

This result marks the team’s third consecutive match without conceding a point and brings their season record to 18-4. NJIT’s record now stands at 14-6.

Head coach Pablo Montana said, “This was a good win for us, especially since they beat us last spring. Our doubles [play] has never looked sharper, and we came out firing in singles with real purpose and passion from the first point.”

Delaware secured the doubles point for the sixth match in a row and for the 21st time this season. The pairings of Maryia Hrynashka/Paulina Jurkowska and Katie Dollens/Lara Russiniello won their matches with scores of 6-1 and 6-2 respectively. In singles play, Navya Vadlamudi continued her winning streak by taking her sixth consecutive victory at fifth singles (6-1, 6-2), while Russiniello also posted a strong performance at fourth singles (6-1, 6-2). Hanna Vinahradava clinched the overall match for Delaware by winning in sixth singles (6-2, 6-4).

Russiniello and Vinahradava became just the thirteenth and fourteenth players in program history to achieve at least twenty-three singles wins in one season.

The Blue Hens will conclude their regular season by facing Drexel on Sunday, April 12 at noon on the DFH Outdoor Courts.
