The University of Delaware women’s lacrosse team won against Kennesaw State with a score of 16-3 on April 9 in an Atlantic Sun Conference game at Delaware Stadium. With this win, the Fightin’ Blue Hens have achieved eight consecutive victories and now hold a record of 9-4 overall and 4-0 in conference play, while Kennesaw State falls to 7-7 overall and 2-3 in the conference.
This victory is significant as it extends Delaware’s winning streak to its longest since the program won ten straight games between the 1999 and 2000 seasons. The team also continues its streak of scoring at least thirteen goals for eight games, matching a mark last reached more than two decades ago.
Ella Rishko led Delaware with five goals and one assist, totaling six points. She also had a career-high six caused turnovers along with four draw controls and three ground balls. Maggie Porter contributed two goals and an assist for her own career-high three points. Morgan Gore added two goals, three caused turnovers, and matched her personal best with four ground balls. Jaclyn Marszal finished with one goal and two assists, while Maggie Craytor scored twice.
Goalkeeper Steph Marszal stopped six shots to tie her career high save percentage at .667. Lena Stolarick posted four caused turnovers—a personal best—and tied her top mark with four ground balls. The Blue Hens set season highs by collecting twenty-six ground balls and forcing eighteen turnovers while holding a sixteen-to-five edge in draw controls.
Delaware opened the game by scoring three unanswered goals in the first quarter from Sophia Muscolino, Rishko, and Gore. By halftime they led Kennesaw State by eight to two after additional contributions from Porter, Craytor, Rishko again, and Callie Drab just before intermission. In the second half Delaware continued their strong performance as Gore started off scoring early in the third quarter followed by tallies from Craytor, McKenzie Didio, J. Marszal, Sturtevant, and more from Rishko who finished with five total goals.
Looking ahead, Delaware will conclude its five-game homestand on Saturday afternoon when it hosts Coastal Carolina at Delaware Stadium for its final home game of the season.
