The University of Delaware women’s basketball program announced on Apr. 17 the signing of Daniella Matus, a guard transferring from Loyola Chicago, according to head coach Sarah Jenkins.
Matus joins Delaware after playing one season with the Ramblers, where she appeared in 19 games and contributed 21 points, seven rebounds, and four steals over 99 minutes.
Originally from Fairfield, New Jersey, Matus graduated from Morris Catholic High School in 2025. She was a four-year starter during her high school career and played one season at St. John Vianney in the 2023-24 school year before returning to Morris Catholic. During her time at St. John Vianney, she helped the team secure its fourth consecutive Shore Conference Tournament title.
Matus served as a two-time team captain and scored more than 1,000 points in her prep career. In her senior year for Morris Catholic’s Crusaders, she averaged 12.4 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game and was named a nominee for the McDonald’s All-American honor in 2025.
Her accolades include being named Morris County Tournament MVP; earning spots on the John Wall National Christmas Tournament All-Tournament Team; NJAC First Team; All-Morris County First Team; and All-Shore Conference Third Team.
Matus is the daughter of Deneen and Michael Matus—her father played basketball at Division II Bentley University—and has two sisters.
