The University of Delaware football team is set to host the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) on Saturday, November 29, at 1 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ and marks the first meeting between the two programs.
Delaware enters the matchup with a 5-6 overall record and a 3-4 mark in Conference USA play. The Blue Hens are coming off a 52-14 loss to Wake Forest. Quarterback Nick Minicucci leads Delaware’s offense with 3,196 passing yards and 19 touchdown passes this season. He also has nine rushing touchdowns, which ties him for ninth-most among quarterbacks nationally who have played in 11 games. Minicucci ranks first in Conference USA and fourth nationally with an average of 290.5 passing yards per game, and his total offense per game stands at eighth in the country.
Running back Jo Silver has contributed 472 rushing yards and three touchdowns, while wide receiver Sean Wilson leads the team with 56 receptions for 744 yards and two touchdowns. Wilson is second in Conference USA for receiving yards per game. On defense, linebacker Gavin Moul has recorded a team-high 90 tackles, ranking fourth in the conference.
Delaware leads Conference USA in several categories including passing offense, first downs per game, average kick return yards, and average punt return yards.
UTEP arrives with a record of 2-9 overall and 1-6 in conference play after losing to New Mexico State by a score of 34-31. Head coach Scotty Walden holds a career record of 39-38 across multiple programs but is currently 5-18 with UTEP. Quarterback Skyler Locklear has thrown for over one thousand yards and nine touchdowns this season. Running back Ashten Emory leads UTEP’s ground attack with four touchdowns, while wide receiver Wondame Davis Jr. tops their receiving corps with five touchdown catches. Linebacker Micah Davey leads the nation in tackles with 131.
