The University of Delaware men’s basketball program announced on April 28 that transfer Steven Solano has joined the roster for the 2026-27 season. Head coach Martin Ingelsby said Solano will be joining the Fightin’ Blue Hens after spending two seasons at Saint Joseph’s.
Solano, a 7-foot center, appeared in 14 games with the Hawks and averaged nearly six minutes per game, along with just over two points and two rebounds. He becomes the first seven-footer to play for Delaware since Matt Hewson in the 2006-07 season.
“We are excited to welcome Steven to our Blue Hen basketball family,” Ingelsby said. “He will provide an interior presence on both sides of the ball and is a perfect fit in our system and our league. Welcome to Newark, Steven!”
Before his time at Saint Joseph’s, Solano was nominated as a McDonald’s All-American in 2024 and received four-star recruit ratings from ESPN and Rivals.com while attending La Lumiere School in Indiana. He also played for Expressions Elite AAU team and represented the Dominican Republic at both the FIBA U17 World Cup and FIBA U16 Americas Championship. In EYBL Scholastic League competition, he ranked fifth in rebounding with seven per game and thirteenth in blocked shots at just over one per contest.
Solano’s addition brings size and experience to Delaware’s roster as they look ahead to future seasons.
