The Delaware Republican Party has urged the University of Delaware to take action after a controversial message was broadcast on its Student Television Network (STN49). The issue arose when an episode of “The Bi-Weekly Show,” a program styled after “Saturday Night Live” and produced under the university’s Communication Department, included end credits thanking “Charlie Kirk’s Killer.” This content was later removed from the video after students highlighted it.
Nick Miles, Executive Director of the Delaware Republican Party, criticized the oversight by stating, “This program operates under faculty oversight, with taxpayer-funded resources, and carries the University’s stamp of approval. For something like this to make it on air is both disturbing and unacceptable.” Gene Truono, Chairman of the party and an alumnus of the university, expressed his concerns about the incident. He remarked that such messaging would not have been tolerated during his time as a student and called for accountability from the university.
The party has requested that the University of Delaware conduct a transparent investigation into how this occurred. They also demand that findings be made public and measures be implemented to prevent similar incidents in the future. According to them, political bias and violent messages should not exist in institutions funded by taxpayers.
