The University of Delaware women’s lacrosse team announced on May 1 that the Atlantic Sun Conference Championship Game has been rescheduled to begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, two hours earlier than previously planned. The change was made due to forecasts of inclement weather expected in the Jacksonville, Florida area in the early afternoon.
This adjustment comes as Delaware prepares for its first conference championship appearance since 2009. The Fightin’ Blue Hens are set to face second-seeded Jacksonville after an undefeated run in ASUN play and winning the ASUN Regular Season Championship during their inaugural season in the conference.
Delaware secured its spot in the final by defeating No. 4 Lindenwood with a score of 10-4 during Thursday’s semifinal match, holding their opponents scoreless in the second half and extending their winning streak to twelve games.
The championship game will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
