124 Schools across New Castle County welcomed 80,645 students in 2024-25 school year

New Castle County enrolled 80,645 students in the 2024-25 school year, 2.8% more than the previous year, according to Delaware Open Data.

It had the highest enrollment numbers in the state.

Data also showed that Black students made up 40% of the student body, the largest percentage in New Castle County schools, followed by white students at 33.5%, Hispanic students at 22% and Asian students at 6.7%.

During the 2024-25 school year, Newark Charter School stood out with the highest enrollment among the 124 schools in New Castle County, welcoming 3,115 students.

According to a WalletHub study, Delaware’s education system was rated the safest in the country and ranked 12th overall. However, the state posted some of the weakest results in reading and overall SAT performance.
